Background: - The newborn period (neonate) is defined as beginning at birth and lastingrnthrough the 28th day. Following birth Neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) are those unitsrnthat are specifically designed for premature and very ill newborns with differentrndiagnoses.Maternal satisfaction is a vital indicator of the quality of care. For neonates, thisrndepends on the viewpoint of the mother.Mothers’ dissatisfaction with care provided to rntheir neonates in Neonatal intensive care unit has resulted in failure of treatment plans,rnincreased neonatal readmissions, increased anxiety among mothers and lack of confidence inrnhealth systems rnObjective: - Theobjective of this study was to assessmaternal satisfaction and associatedrnfactors with careneonatal care admitted in NICU among mothers in selected governmentalrnhospitals, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 2019/20GC. rnMethodology: - An institutional-based cross-sectional study was conducted from April torn2020GC to June 2020 GC among mothers of the hospitalized neonate in a selectedrngovernment hospital. A systematic sampling method was used. Data werecollected using anrninterviewer-administered structured questionnaire, and 299 mothers participated. The collectedrndata were entered and cleaned using Epi data versions 3.1 and then it was exported & analyzedrnusing Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 25.To determine the associationrnbetween nominal variables such as socio-demographic variables and level of satisfactionrnbivariate and multiple logistic regressions were computed. rnResult: The overall proportion of maternal satisfaction was found to be 42.8%. Mothersrnwho’re live in Addis Ababa were more likely to be satisfied than outside Addis Ababarn[AOR=1.962(1.092-3.526)]. Those who had an monthly income between1001-5000 birr perrnmonth were 4.937 times satisfied than those having above 10,000 birr [4.937(1.43916.936).Amongmothersrnrnattended primary school (1-8) were more likely to be satisfied thanrnthose who had a degree and above [AOR=2.904(1.008-8.362). rnConclusion and recommendations:Among 286mothers 42.8% were satisfied. The regressionrnanalysis shows that residence,educational status, and monthly incomewere determinantrnfactors of maternal satisfaction. As a recommendation, health Care providers should identify the physical, psychological, and social aspects of problems and provide care based on theirrnneeds.
