The amino acids (glycine and alanine) and ninhydrin derivatives of shiff basern(ketimine) and Ruhemann’s purple complexes of Co(II) were prepared and studiedrnusing fluorescence and UV/VIS absorption spectroscopy. The Ruhemann’s purplerncomplex were found to have two emission bands at 420nm (23810cm−1) and 490nmrn(20410cm−1). The existence of iso-emission point in the emission spectra of Ruhemann’srnpurple complex shows the existence of two structures of the complex at equilibrium.rnThe fluorescence spectra of glycine ninhydrin shiff base in DMF solutionrnwere found to have also an iso-emission point showing possible two structures. Thernemission band lies in ultra violate region and 350nm (28570cm−1) band can be seenrnresolved. From the spectra of both complexes the octahedral symmetry group werernsuggested for the two complexes
