Background:The provision of complete health care necessitates the availability of safe, effectivernand affordable drugs and related supplies of the required quality, in adequate quantity at allrntimes. To meet this need TikurAnbessa Specialized Hospital, Pharmacy Service Directoraternstrives to restructure relentlessly, and consider innovation of supply chain process. Technologicalrnsoftware implementation called Health Commodities Management Information System in thernwarehouse in 2009 E.C. is among them. Despite those encouraging progresses, evidence revealsrnfrequent stock depletions and shortages of health commodities at the service delivery point.rnObjectives:To assess warehousing and inventory management performance and associatedrnfactors after Health Commodities Management Information System implementation in TikurArnnbessa Specialized Hospital.rnMethods: A mixed method research design using quantitative and qualitative methods will bernused in this study. For the quantitative part,facility based retrospective method will be used tornsurvey data like, items and quantity ordered and/ received, cost and quantity of items expired orrndamaged, cost of the products, and number of days to process the orders on medication store forrnRevolving Drug Fund and program medicinesfor the years, Nehase,1,2007 –Sene ,30,2008rnE.C/August,7,2015-July,7,2016G.C/before,andNehase,1,2009–Sene,30,2010E.C/August,7,2017July,7,2018rnG.C/rnafterrnimplementationrnofrnHealthrnCommoditiesrnManagementrnInformationrnSystemrnrnusingrnrnstandardized data collection tools.A Delphi technique will be used to selectmedicinesrnwhich indicated pharmaceutical supply chain performance of the Hospital. Data from HealthrnCommodities Management Information System, Internal Facility Requisition Report, DisposalrnReport, Bin card and Good Receiving Voucher (Model 19), Model 22 will be used to collectrnquantitative data.Qualitative data collection tool will be used to assess the related factors whichrnaffect the performance of warehousing and inventory management using in-depth interviewrnmethod with key informants, purposively selected from TikurAnbessa Specialized Hospital. Therndata collection and analysis will be conducted from December, 2018 – March, 2018. Therncollected quantitative data will be entered and analyzed using Microsoft excel and SPSS versionrn20 computer software while the qualitative data will be analyzed manually.rnBudget: The total budget required to conduct the study is 35,673.75 ETB.
