Stress ulcer is an inflammatory condition involving the gastric mucosa that may appear at somernpoint of physiological stress such as serious illness. Prophylaxis against stress ulcers using Acidsuppressivernrntherapy (AST), such as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and histamine-2 receptorrnantagonists (Hrn2rnRAs), often is used to prevent gastric complications, in patients with seriousrnillnesses as they have a high risk of developing gastric ulceration and bleeding. Currently there isrna growing concern about improper use of stress ulcer prophylaxis (SUP) in hospitalized patients.rnHence, this study was aimed to determine appropriateness and associated factors for the use ofrnSUP among patients treated at adult medical ward and intensive care unit of TASH. Anrninstitutional based Cross-Sectional study was conducted from August 9rnthrn, 2019 to December 9rn,rn2019. Data was collected prospectively from 368 patient medical records. The data were enteredrninto Epi-info version 7 and then exported to and analyzed using Statistical Package for SocialrnSciences, version 25. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize the data while multivariablernbinary logistic regression analysis was used to determine factors associated with appropriatenessrnof SUP use. P-value
