Space debris, which are resulted from space activities among other things, are potentialproblemsrnfor the on going space science and development of space technology. A fewrnalternatives in measuring, detecting, tracking and imaging space debris are there. Atmosphericrnsignals contain signals scattered from space debris on top of signals scatteredrnfrom the atmosphere. This thesis investigates how one can use atmospheric radar to detectrnspace debris. The investigation is carried out by modelling the transmitted signal,rnthe scattered signal for space debris in the presence of noise and also the impulse responsernof the receiver. We assume that the noise is white noise and for optimal detection wernhave employed matched filter at the receiver out put. The result shows that space debrisrncan be easily detection by means of atmospheric radar
