vVe considered two different mechanisms by which a vacancy diffuses from onernstable state to the next within a sublattice for a two dimensional binary alloys. Forrnboth mechanisms, we have found that the diffusion time is a function of jumpingrnprobabilities which in tmn depend on energy barriers and lattice spacing. vVerncompared the diffusion times for the two mechanisms and identified conditionsrnunder which one is favored over the other
