This study was planned to assess the project implementation planning practice of Amhara Bankrnformation project. The study adopted Qualitative research method to answer the researchrnquestions raised and the problem stated. Primary data was collected from 10 key informants usingrndeep interview, and secondary data was obtained from planning documents, prospectus document,rnproject’s periodic reports and different publications about the project. The data collected werernanalyzed qualitatively using thematic and content analysis methods. The findings of the studyrnindicated that all processes of the project implementation planning were well-practiced except thernproject communication planning. The challenges faced during implementation planning wererntime management, difficulty to determine budget, difficulty to identify possible risks, conflict ofrninterest between the organizers and so forth. The initiative of the bank organizing team to servernfreely for the project, the name of the bank and the government initiative to liberalize the financialrnsector became opportunities for the project. The findings of the study will help the project office,rnthe bank organizing team, the bank’s future board and management, policy makers, and futurernresearchers by providing direction and recommendation for the research questions.
