Factors Affecting Implementation Of Genale Dawa Hydropower Project

The purpose of this study was to establish factors affecting implementation of GenalernDawa hydropower project. The study employed descriptive research design. The researchrnsought to achieve five specific objectives with the key variables examined beingrndependent variable implementation of Genale Dawa hydropower project andrnindependent variables being stakeholder engagement, monitoring and evaluation system,rntop management support, team building and communication system. The quantitativerndata collected using questionnaire was analyzed using descriptive statistics with the aidrnof SPSS. 76.7% of the respondents agreed that the project has not completed on time,rnwithin budget, meets quality target and did not contribute to the achievement of thernEEP's strategic objectives. From the findings of the study, it was concluded that toprnmanagement support to a large extent affects the implementation of the project. The studyrnalso concluded that stakeholder engagement affects the implementation of the project.rnThe study further concluded that monitoring and evaluation system, team building andrncommunication system affects implementation of the project. The study recommendedrnthat stakeholder engagement to be improved significantly, top management support byrnproviding the necessary resources and authority and making fast decisions. The studyrnalso concluded there should monitoring and evaluation system, team building andrncommunication system during implementation of the project.
