Quality Assurance And The National Virtual Library Initiative

The paper revisits the challenges of Nigerian Universities in global arena and the need for quality assurance for Nigerian University Education System. Attempts made to maintain quality assurance by relevant regulatory bodies were highlighted. The place of National Virtual Library Initiative in ensuring quality assurance in Nigerian University Education System was x-rayed and the way forward provided. It concludes that, because provision of library and information services are central to effective teaching, research and learning, any attempt to ensure quality assurance in our educational institutions particularly in the university systems must consider the provision of library and information services to be accessed and utilized physically and remotely irrespective of the time.
