This research tries to assess the Progress and challenges of Government of Ethiopia andrnNGO and it gives the current picture of the progress and challenges of MDG-four, it try tornassess the progress and achievement made so far, identify the challenge encountered,rnopportunities gained and also missed while achieving this goal and will try to show the futurernintervention are by the government and NGOâ€˜s. The data collection method was bothrnprimary and secondary; the primary data was collected through questionnaire and interview.rnThe Secondary data were collected though UN and Federal ministry of health annual reportsrnand other policy documents those were relevant for this subject. The Findings identify andrnasses the challenges occurred during the implementation of MDG -4 were it divided in tornpolicy, operational and funding challenges; where those challenges were discussed, analyzedrnand interpreted in detail. It also Identify the factors for the success of Child Mortality whichrnare: - because of health policy of Ethiopia, because of health Extension Program, because ofrnCross cutting intervention, because of Community Empowerment, Engagement andrnParticipation. And also discussed and assessed the role of developmental Partners for thernsuccess of MDG four. It was identified in the research that policy environment was identifiedrnto have both success and challenge factor. Lastly but not the least the researcher tries tornpoint of the limitation of MDGs in terms of setting criteria, the criteria may have been differrnfrom country to country or it should have been set based on the economic development statusrnand the population size of any given country. Finally conclusion and recommendations wererngiven accordingly which is the good work they need to keep and work on the challenges byrntackling cultural problems and also by having medicines and vaccine supplies especially inrnthe rural areas
