The study was undertaken at Ethio Telecom Head Office on the topic “The Roles of Training andrnDevelopment in enhancing Employees’ Performance†The purpose of the study was to assess thernrole of Training and Development in enhancing employee performance. The methodology thatrnwas used for the study was descriptive. Primary data was collected from a sample of 86 (Eightyrnsix) respondents by using convenience sampling method. Questionnaire and interview was usedrnin the collection of data for analysis. The study revealed that the role of training andrndevelopment in enhancing employee performance in the organization was very important inrnaddressing the organization issues such as lack of management support for training andrndevelopment programmes, which constrained training and development. It was also found thatrntraining and development in Ethio Telecom was not properly addressed as a key tool inrnenhancing employee performance. The major challenges of training and development in Ethiorntelecom could be inadequate time and resource, financial problem, inadequate planning, lack ofrncoordination and inability to transfer learning from training to workplace. The studyrnrecommended that in order for Ethio Telecom to be successful as the leading Telecom Companyrnin Ethiopia, managements must empower all departments to engage in the training andrndevelopment of employees to enhance the potential and strengthen employees’ Performance.rnKeywords: Training, development, employees Performance, Ethio telecom
