Background: worldwide there is an estimated 493,000 annual cases of cervical cancer andrn273,500 annual deaths, women in developing countries account for about 85% of both itsrnmorbidity and mortality. To have early screening and early detection, having knowledge isrnimportant. Women with a better knowledge of cervical cancer were more likely to attend cervicalrncancer screenings. In Ethiopia practice of cervical cancer screening is below 1%.rnObjectives: The objective of this study was to assess the knowledge, Attitude and Practice onrncervical cancer and screening among reproductive health service clients at health centers inrnAddis Ababa.rnMethodology: A facility based cross sectional study which contain quantitative and qualitativernmethods were conducted at 13 public health centers in Addis Ababa, from February tornMarch2015. Totally 520 samples were taken For Quantitative study and a multi-stage samplingrntechnique was employed to address the study subjects. Four focused group discussions werernconducted among the clients in the qualitative part. Data was analyzed using descriptive statisticsrnand logistic regression model was used to identify factors associated with the outcome variablernand the result is presented using the OR with the corresponding 95% CI. The transcribed andrntranslated qualitative data was coded using Open Code software. Then finally the codes wererncategorized and thematically described.rnResult: Over all knowledge of cervical cancer was 43.8% and knowledge of cervical cancerrnscreening were 27% and 56% of participants had positive attitude towards cervical cancerrnscreening. And over all practice of cervical cancer screening was 3.5%. Being knowledgeable ofrncervical cancer (AOR=5.0,95% CI;2.7-3.0) and source of information from health professionalsrn(AOR= 1.8, 95% CI (1-3.2)) were found to be statistically significant towards knowledge ofrncervical cancer screening and Knowing someone diagnosed with cervical cancer (AOR= 2.1, 95rnCI (1.2-3.4)) and being knowledgeable of cervical cancer (AOR=3, 95%CI (1.8-5.3)) werernstatistically significant predictors for positive attitude towards cervical cancer screening. womenrnwho know someone diagnosed with cervical cancer (AOR= 3.2, 95% CI; 1.0-10.0) and sourcernof information from health professionals (AOR =3.5, 95%CI; 1.2-10.2) were the significantrndeterminants of cervical cancer screening practice.rnConclusion and Recommendation: More than half of the participants were not knowledgeablernof cervical cancer and screening, however they had positive attitude. Cervical cancer screeningrnpractice was very low. Lack of knowledge, accessibility of services with affordable price andrnabsence of gynecological signs were among common perceived barriers for not to undergorncervical cancer screening practices. Service should be available and accessible with reasonablernprice to the clients and health education and awareness creation regarding cervical cancer shouldrnbe in place.
