Background: Diarrhea is one of the leading causes of child mortality in under five children.rnAccording to the World Health Organization (WHO), an estimated 2.5 billion cases ofrndiarrhea occur among under 5children each year. More than half of the cases occur in Africarnand South-East Asia. Diarrhea is a commonly associated problem in children with Zincrndeficiency and diarrhea also leads to excess zinc losses. It is anticipated that over one-half ofrnthese deaths could be averted through the successful application of zinc as a treatment forrnchildhood diarrhea . According to community based survey, diarrhea is second commonrncause of under-five mortality (88 per 1000 live births), and morbidity (13%) in Ethiopia. Arnpolicy to use zinc to treat children with diarrhoea was adopted by the Ministry of Health ofrnEthiopia in 2013.rnResult:-The prevalence of zinc administration is low in developing country. The aim of thernstudy was to assesses zinc and ORS utilization and associated factors in akaki kality sub city,rnAddis Ababa, Ethiopia. The data were collected using a structuredrnquestionnaire and analyzed using SPSS version 20. Bivariate and multivariate analyses werernused to identify the factors related to zinc administration. Two hundred eight three (67.1%)rncaregivers were administered zinc and ORS. For how long caregivers give Zinc treatmentrn(AOR= 0.069;95%CI:0.006-0.790), reasons for not giving full dose of Zincrn(AOR=26.755;95%CI:2.874-249.069), and source of zinc product(AOR=9.301;rn95%CI:1.009-85.709) were the factors associated with zinc administration.rnConclusions :- 67.1% care givers were administered zinc and ORS to the child for therntreatment of diarrhea in this study area. Zinc administration was determined by reasons forrnnot giving full dose of zinc, for how long caregivers give zinc treatment and source of zincrnproduct. In the study area there was low zinc and ORS administration for diarrhea treatments.rnRecommendations :-Health authority and managers in the study area need to improve thernawareness of caregivers in proper utilization of zinc
