The purpose of this study was to assess the practices and challenges of public propertyrnmanagement in Oromia Regional State in the case of Oromia Supreme Court. The studyrnemployed descriptive survey design and involves both quantitative and qualitative datarngathering tools. Data were collected from 102 line and supportive staff of OromiarnSupreme Court. In addition 5(five) Federal and Regional government heads who arerndelegated to manage and control procurement and property administration area wererninterviewed. Judgmental sampling techniques were used for distribution ofrnquestionnaires and purposive sampling techniques were employed to conduct interviews.rnIn addition to primary data, secondary data were used.rnThe study showed problems to understanding and enforcing rules and regulations,rnproblems to arranging organizational structure with team and team coordinator, lack ofrnpositioning professionals, problems to need based planning, weak handling andrndisposing of property.rnThe researcher has recommended fully enforce rules and regulations, should organizernthe staff with team and team coordinator, use professionals, and experienced work force,rnshould apply asset management plan, standard storage, modern property handling andrndisposing methods, capacity building and establishing technology based property datarnmanagement system were recommended.
