Background: - Work-related stress is one of the health problems modern societies have to dealrnwith. Such stress is the second most reported work-related health problem next tornmusculoskeletal disorders. Job dissatisfaction could be one reason for work-related stress.rnHowever, there is no clear and sufficient evidence showing the relationship between jobrndissatisfaction and work-related stress in developing countries including Ethiopia. Therefore, thernstudy is designed to assess the association between job dissatisfaction and work work-relatedrnstress among health professionals working in public health centers. rnObjectives:- This study is mainly designed to assess the magnitude of work-related stress and torndetermine its association with job dissatisfaction among health professionals working in publicrnhealth centers in Yeka Sub-city of Addis Ababa. rnMethod:- Health facility-based cross-sectional study was implemented among healthrnprofessionals in Yeka Sub-city. Data was collected using self- administered structuredrnquestionnaires from a total of 519 samples of health professionals working in Yeka sub-cityrnhealth centers. The level of job dissatisfaction was measured with multi-item scales derived fromrnSatisfaction of Employees in Health Care (SEHC) while work-related stress was measured byrnPerceived Stress Scale (PSS-14). Data were entered into EpiData Manager 4.4.2.1 and analyzedrnusing SPSS version 23. Both binary and multivariable logistic regression analyses were used tornshow an association between job dissatisfaction and work-related stress. The adjusted odds ratiornwas used to determine the strength of association. rnResult: - A total of 499 health workers participated in the study and, among them 173 (34.70%)rnwere males and 326 (65.30%) were females. The magnitude of work-related stress among healthrnprofessionals was 53.3%, 95% CI (48.7, 57.90) and, 52.9%, 95% CI (48.7, 57.50) of studyrnparticipants were dissatisfied with their job. After adjusting for potential confounder healthrnworkers who were dissatisfied with their job were more likely to have more work-related stressrn[AOR=2.47; 95%CI (1.67, 3.65)]. Additionally, sex of the health professions was independentlyrnassociated with work-related stress. Male health professionals were less likely to report workrelatedrnstressrnwhenrncomparedrnto theirrnfemalerncounterpartsrn[AOR=rn0.61;rn95%rnCIrn(0.39,rn0.93)].rnrnConclusion:- More than half of health professionals working public health centers arerndissatisfied with their job and suffering from work-related stress. The study also found thernpresence of a strong association between work-related stress and job dissatisfaction among healthrnprofessionals. Therefore, healthcare providers and policymakers should work to improve thernhuman resource management system and maintain healthy working environment of the publicrnhealth facilities so that workers job satisfaction is increased, health and safety of the workers isrnkept under control and hence work related stress is minimized.
