Background rnCaesarean section is a surgical technique in which a baby is brought through incisions made in thernmother’s abdomen. Caesarean section as a proportion of all births is used as an Emergency ObstetricrnCare indicator because it is a degree of use and access to a common obstetric intervention that avertrnmaternal and neonatal deaths as well as preventing problems, such as obstetric fistulae. According to arn2007 analysis expected a global caesarean section rate of 15% and there was great regional difference:rnthe lowest caesarean section rates were seen in Africa (3.5%) while the highest were in Latin America rn(29.2%). rnObjectivern This study was aimed to assess the prevalence, indications and factors affecting cesarean sectionrndelivery among mothers who gave birth in public and private health facilities of Addis Ababa fromrnAugust,2019 to October ,2019. rnMethodsrncross sectional study was conducted to assess the prevalence of cesarean section delivery, indicationsrnand associated factors in selected private and public hospitals in Addis Ababa. Using simple randomrnsampling method two hospitals from the public and four from private hospitals were selected. Usingrnsystematic random sampling method 642 mothers who gave birth in the selected hospitals were includedrnin the study. Data was entered in to SPSS version 20 then data cleaning was done. Descriptive statisticsrnwere used for frequency and percentage, binary and multivariable logistic regressions was done to seernrelationship (associations) of the dependent variable with multiple factors.
