The study was designed to explore the 'Challenges of HIV / AIDSrnProgram Implementation in Addis Ababa City Administration, LidetarnSub-city'. It was mainly focusing on the challenges of coordination andrncollaboration within and across different organizations which werernworking against the exponential spread of HIV/AIDS. To conduct thernresearch, mixed research approach was employed to triangulate onernset of finding against the others. The subjects of the study were tenrnsub-cities in Addis Ababa city Administration. From them Lideta sub cityrnwas selected purposefully. In this sub-city, there were nine kebelesrnfrom which eighteen health supervisors and nine Kebele Health OfficernHeads; four directors and four core processors of HC; four AntiHIV/rnAIDs associations (chairpersons, secretaries and cashiers, totallyrntwelve persons); four Faith-based organizations one from eachrn(Orthodox Christian, Catholic Christian, Protestant and Muslim); eightrnrepresentative from private higher clinics and six NGOs who werernworking against HIV/AIDS in the Lideta sub-city were selected by usingrnavailable sampling technique. This was because they were manageablernsizes to the researcher.rnData were mainly collected from 65 respondents usingrnquestionnaire for quantitative research and key interviews (4 top levelrnNGO Chairpersons, 2 AAHAPCO office heads,1 sub-city HO head) andrntwo Focus Group Discussions (male FGD and female FGD separately) .rnFrequency tables were used to see the rate of repetitions andrninteraction of the dependent and independent variables. All therngathered information was tallied and converted to percentiles.rnPercentile was used to compute in accordance with each category.rnThe general results of the study revealed that though commendablernachievements have been obtained, there are still gray areas that shouldrnbe addressed meticulously by all government and NGOs. A case inrnpoint was that, most of the strategies and programs seemed to lackrncoordination and collaboration within and across different organizationsrnBased on the overall results, it was recommended that bothrngovernmental and non-governmental organizations should creaternformalized system of communication, coordinated approach to thernservice, comprehensive client centered approaches and services torncombat the ravages of HIV/AIDS pandemics easily.
