A retrospective-cohort study was carried out inrnNortheastern Ethiopia to assess the impact of healthrntraining of primary school teachers on health knowledgernand practice of their students with regard to personalrnhygiene and the environmental health conditions of thernschools.rnThe required information to assess knowledge wasrncollected using a pretested questionnaire. Observationrnformats were developed to assess the hygienic status ofrnthe students and environmental health situations of thernschools. Focus group discussions were conducted with therntrained teachers on how to improve the school heal thrneducation activities. Data analysis was carried outrnusing EPI-INFO version 5 and SAS computer statisticalrnpackages.rnThe results showed improvement in the total meanrnknowledge score of teachers who received trainingrncompared to the control groups (F-stat. 3.47, P:0.04).rnThough the difference was not statistically significant .rnStudents of the trained teachers also showed a higherrnmean knowledge score compared to both control-l andrncontrol - 2 groups P:
