Background: Birth weight plays an important role in infant morbidity, mortality, development,rnand future health of the child. Weight at birth is directly influenced by general level of healthrnstatus of the mother. Maternal environment is the most important determinant of birth weight.rnDespite the profusion of many researches there are considerable confusions and controversiesrnabout the factors that have independent effects on low birth weight.
