Background: Esophageal cancer is the eighth most common cancer and the sixth most commonrncause of cancer relate death worldwide and the fifth most common cancer and attributes a significantrnnumber of cancer-related death in Ethiopia.rnObjective:To asses Computed tomography imaging pattern, risk factors and prevalence ofrnaspiration pneumonia in esophageal ca patients visiting radiology department TikurAnbesarnSpecialised Hospital for staging.rnMethod: Institutional based prospective cross-sectional study was conducted on 110 histologicalrnproven esophageal ca patients come to the radiology department of TikurAnbesa SpecialisedrnHospital for staging.Sociodemographic data were collected by principal investigators using a semistructuredrnquestionnaire with the full consent of the participant. The data was collected from thernsource population and entered and analyzed using SPSS version 25. Text, tables,and graphs werernused to present descriptive data, and analysis was processed.rnResult: Esophagus cancer was commonly seen in the age group between 51 to 60 years (37.3%)rnwith the females (55.5%) more commonly affected than males (44.5%).rnAll patients predominantly presented with dysphagia and weight loss. Dirking or eating extremelyrnhot drinks or meals, alcohol, and smoking was the associated risk factor.rnThe lower esophagus affected more commonly 47.3% compared to other parts. The wall thickness inrnthe majority of the cases measured between 10-20mm (83.8%).rnT4b N0M0 was the most common staging found in CT (56.7%)with non resectability of 78.18%rn.Twenty point seven percent of the cases presented with metastasis being lung is the commonest siternof metastasis. Squamous cell carcinoma (81.8%) was the most common histopathological typernpresented. Of 110 patients 12 of them (10.9%) have pneumonia.rnConclusion: . Most patients are old age farmers from oromia prsented with 100% dysphagia andrnweight loss. The identified risk factor are dirking or eating extremely hot drinks or meals, alcohol,rnand smoking. The lower esophagus affected more commonly 47.3% compared to other parts withrnsignificant corraltion with histologic type and T4bN0M0 was the most common staging (56.7%) withrn78.18% unresetablility at presentation.
