This paper attempts to explore the level of community participation in the implementationrnof relocated residents in inner-city renewal development projects. This program is oftenrncriticized for its top down approach and lack of local citizensâ€™ participation that leads tornlack of satisfaction and willingness among resettled residents Among the 10 sub cities ofrnAddis Ababa city, the Bole sub city, Bole-Ayat1 site were chosen for the study. This studyrnemployed a sequential mixed research design. The sample comprised of 185 resettledrnhouseholds at boleAyat-1. Data were collected through questionnaire and interviewrnguide. A finding revealed that majority of relocated residents has informed about therninner-city renewal and resettlement project undertaken in their locality. Based on thernfindings, the study shows that there was a community participation in the form ofrninforming and consultation in relocation processes and has influenced residentâ€™srnwillingness to new area and their current satisfaction. Further the result revealed that thernlevel of community participation found at the bottom third and forth level of thernladder(informing and consultation) and number of family size, distance to work placernwere significantly associated with willingness and satisfaction in BoleAyate-1 relocatedrnresidents. The study recommended that should be enhanced community participationrnfurther to citizen power level from informing and consultation. The local communityrnshould be empowered through education and training so that they fully participated inrndevelopment projects and lastly that the public management should be empowered so thatrnthey are able to participate in urban renewal and relocated project.
