This thesis aims to identify demographic, socio economic and psychological determinants for thernfamily planning services utilization in MOJio town, Oromia region. The study uses bothrndescril-tive and quantitative techniques. The study is cross- sectional study design. Usingrnsystematic random sampling techniques 551 samples were taken. Data were col/ec{ed {hroughrnquestionnaires from women of reproduc{ive age (15-49years}.Focus group discussions and keyrninformant interviews were conduc{ed to obtained quali{ative information on family planningrnservice utilization. For analysis, {he study uses chi-square test and logistic regression model.rnWomen were interviewed on knowledge, a{{i{ude and practice of family planning. Knowledgernand approval of family planning was high. 91.5% and 82.2% respectively, bu{ {he practice ofrnfamily planning was low. Results showed that only 33.6% ever used anyfamily planning methodrnand 38.3 were currently using any family planning method at the time of the survey. Therncommonest methods for bOlh ever use and current use were injectable, pills and condom. Therncommonest source of family planning information was clinics. The logistic model showed thatrnwith jive and above living children, those literate, those approved family planning methods,rndiscussed with husband/partners and those exposed to mass media have the highest likelihood ofrnutilizing family planning services. Fertility relmed, opposition, methods reia{ed, and access tornsources and knowledge were the main reasons for non-users. The inJormation obtainedji'om keyrninformants indicates that the quality of care is also important in influencing the decision byrnwomen to Ulilizefamily planning services. Based on {he results oJthe study the recommendalionsrninclude raising women's education levels, improving their employmenl opportunities, decreasingrnthe economic, social and psychological value of children and reducing their desire for largernfamilies, educating women on Ihe benejits of family planning and increase male involvement inrnfamily planning programs.
