Climate change is expected to have seriolls environmental, economic, and social impactsrnin Ethiopia. In particular, rural farmers, whose livelihoods depend on the use of naturalrnresources, are likely to bear the burden of adverse impacts. The extent to which thesernimpacts are felt depends in large extent on the adaptation in response to climate change.rnThis sludy was carried oul in Adea Wereda 10 assess Ihe communily perceplion aboul andrnresponse 10 Ihe c1imale change. Farmers, kebele officials, Developmenl Agenls and otherrnrespective experls were used as sources of dala. From Ihe farmers in the sludy area 130rnhousehold heads were selected using syslemalic random sampling. FGDs, queslionnaire,rnkey informanl inlerview and documenl analysis were Ihe primwy lools used 10 collectrndata. Data analysis was done mainly by descriptive slalistics (percenlage andjrequency)rnwilh Ihe help of software known as Sialislical Package for Social Science (SPSS versionrn/5.00). The finding of the study came up wilh Ihe communi lies underslanding as therernwas c1imale change Ihough disparily among sex was observed on Ihe level ofrnunderslanding. Moreover, c1imale change was nol perceived as the second majorrnenvironmenlal problem nexl to deforestation. Finally, the possible recommendation werernprovided in relalion to the local community underslanding and observed gaps.
