This study was conducted to examine the psychosocial problems of adolescents who live without their parent in addition it also studied the general psychosocial problems of adolescents in Menelik School of Preparatory for Higher Education Addis Ababa. For the purpose of this study, data was gathered using the psychosocial scale. The scale consists of 56 items in a Likert format. Each item has five response alternative ranging from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5(strongly agree). The total population was 1,335 (adolescents living with parent=1,124 and adolescent living without their parent= 211). Out of this, the questionnaire was administered to 300 from both group (Living with parent=150 Living without parent =150) using the disproportional stratified sampling technique. The collected data was analyzed using frequency; percentage, mean, one sample test, independent sample t-test and One Way ANOVA. The obtained result portrayed the none existence of significant psychosocial problems on adolescents who live without their parent, in the same way there is no significant difference with in adolescents who live without parent in relation to difference in the time spent without parent. Furthermore, significant variation was found among gender difference in relation to their psychosocial problem.
