The study examined persuasion techniques perceived or practiced by first year college studentsrnto form sexual intimacy. It targets to study samples from school of commerce at Addis AbabarnUniversity and attempted to identify sex differences in persuasion techniques. Statisticalrndifferences were also examined among short term and long term romantic relationship types. Arndescriptive research design was selected on the basis of the nature of the research objectives.rnSchool of commerce was selected on convenience and 191 male and female study samples werernparticipated in the study. Data were analyzed quantitatively. Result revealed that malesrnpracticed or perceived more number of persuasion techniques than females when initiatingrnsexual intimacy. However, a number of these persuasion techniques were shared by both sexes.rnThe study revealed that males and females are different in the overall persuasion techniquesrnperceived or practiced to initiate sexual intimacy. Statistical differences were also observed inrnthe overall persuasion techniques perceived or practiced among first year students who arerninterested in short term and long term romantic relationships. First year students who favoredrnshort term romantic relationships perceived or practiced the overall persuasion techniquesrnhigher than students who preferred long term romantic types. Male students tend to significantlyrnfavor short term romantic interests than female students do.
