This study investigated the nature of brain drain in the School of Social Work at Addis AbabarnUniversity. It has specifically examined the attitude and intentions of graduate andrnundergraduate students of School of Social Work at Addis Ababa University. The sample for thernstudy constituted a total of 130 participants, data was collected through both quantitative andrnqualitative means. The results show that a significant number of participants had a highrninclination and intention of pursuing emigration. The primary reason for the consideration ofrnemigrating was found to be pursuit of education, additionally financial reasons in the form ofrnpoor pay and low career progression have also been uncovered. This study has also found that,rnthe flight of social workers to have an adverse effect on the education delivery of social work.rnFurthermore, lack of awareness about the social work profession among the masses and amongrnemployers have been identified to contribute to the underdevelopment of the profession
