This study was conducted to investigate the consistency of parenting styles employed by mothersrnand fathers in intact households. The objective of this study was to examine how consistent arernpaternal and maternal parenting styles and how parenting styles of parents differ due to the sexrnof the child. The study used a purposive sampling to select the school and using systematicrnsampling technics to total of 197 student who s were selected for the study. Quantitative datarnhave been collected by using structured questionnaire. Data collected were analyzed by usingrnSPSS version 20 and presented in descriptive statistics, tabularization and chi-square.rnAccordingly, finding revealed that 62% of respondentsrnperceived their parents as consistentrnparent in their parenting styles. Among these consistent parents, 39.6% of respondent’s familiesrnpractice Authoritative parenting styles followed by Indulgent, Authoritarian and Neglectfulrn29.3%, 21.3% and 10.7% respectively. The dominant parenting styles practiced by fathersrnhappen to be Neglectful parenting style whereas the highest number of mothers perceived asAuthoritative parent.rnNo statistical significant difference in the score between paternalrnparenting styles and sex of the child (x 2 =2.978, df= 3, P>.005) and No statistical significantrndifference in the score between Maternal parenting styles and sex of the child (x 2 =4.531, df=3,rnP>.005) which implies, parenting styles of mothers and fathers does not vary on account to sexrnof the child.
