The purpose of the study was to examine factors influencing police employees’ motivation and itsrnimpacts on police employees’ performance in the case of the federal police, Addis Ababa. Thernresearch is a mixed (quantitative and qualitative) design research approach.rnData wererncollected from 306 (206 males and 50 females) randomly selected police employees. Thernresearch instruments were Intrinsic and extrinsic factors of motivation scale measures.rnDescriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze data. The results showed that there isrnno significant difference in the level of motivation between the two sexes. However, there was arnsignificant difference on the police employee level of motivation among age groups, rank,rneducational level, and years of work experience. The study further showed the presence of arnsignificant relationship between intrinsic motivational factors (i.e. recognition, promotion,rnachievements, satisfaction, and responsibility), and extrinsic motivational factors (i.e. Payment,rnLeadership, Work environment, Interpersonal relationship, and Job security). Based on thernfindings, recommendations were forwarded.
