This study focused on investigating the role of Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahidornchurches in mitigating social problems in Addis Ababa. As far as the knowledge of thernresearcher towards the study of religious institutions is concerned, most of the previousrnstudies carried out in both academic and non-academic organization focuses on specificrnissues of cultural, spiritual, and social environment roles. However, little is done tornunderstand the role of Ethiopian Orthodox Churches form the stand point of mitigatingrnsocial problems. This gap has been the central point of the study. The study is qualitativernby design. Both primary and secondary sources used to generate pertinent information tornthe study. In line with this, the researcher used the common methods such as In-depthrninterview and focus group discussion (FGD) to obtain primary data. Whereas, secondaryrn8rndata have been collected from various materials of published and unpublished sourcesrnsuch as books, journals, internets and other related sources assumed important for thisrnparticular study. Data gathered in this way were subject for thematic analysis. Currently, rnincreasing the number of vulnerable orphans and elders, HIV/AIDS, unemployment, andrnhousing problem are the major social problems that gain a due attention by the selectedrnEthiopian orthodox Tewahido churches. EOTC plays a great role in the day to day life ofrnthe society and they aimed at serving the human beings on the basis of truth. Thernresearcher implication for the future researchers on this issue is that Ethiopian OrthodoxrnTewahido Churches give a due attention for various social problems but this studyrnaddressed only housing problem, HIV/AIDS, unemployment, orphans and elder’s relatedrnproblems. Therefore, it is better if they focused on other social problems that are notrntouched by this study
