A qualitative explanatory research was deployed to assess the needs of ART consumers inrnAlert hospital who are residing in Kolfe Keranio sub city Kebele 02/03. The studyrnparticipants are People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) who are selected purposely basedrnon years of experience taking ART, their communication skills. The primary data wasrncollected through in-depth interview and observation guide. In addition, secondary datarnsources were used to obtain information on total number of ART consumers at Alertrnhospital and national level. The study shows that need for nutritious food, employment,rnfinancial support, human right, own or Kebele accessed houses as major needs ofrnparticipants of this study. Furthermore, the study revealed that many of the participants arernin a weak economic condition, which is found to adversely affect them from meeting theirrnneeds which results for weak adherence. The study has also revealed that males needsrnaccess for job and female family members who can provide them support while females arernfound to have a different need for safety within the home environment and access for priorrnservice at health posts. Finally, the study has identified a social work practice that aims atrntraining ART consumers on income generating activities based on their prioritized needs,rnskills, interest and capacity besides complementing the program by providing education onrnstigma and discrimination to the public so that they will contribute their share in supporting the effectiveness of the program
