This case study attempted to explore the resilience of six widows living in AddisrnAbaba, Ethiopia. The study mainly focused on exploring the experience and adaptivernstrength of participants during transition to widowhood and nature of environmentalrnfactors that have positive impact to the resilience of the participants of the study. The datarnwas obtained from in-depth interviews with the six widows, who are identified throughrnpurposive sampling from an organization named Society for international ministriesrncommunity support project. The study reveals that individual disposition and externalrnsocial support play the major role for positive adjustment of widows. The role of familyrnis found to be unhelpful in coping process of the study participants. Apart from therndifferent supports physical presence is found to be supportive for positive adjustment.rnThe study also pointed out social network at list the role of one influential person isrnmarked as major factor for early coping of a widow. Finally, this study forwardsrnimplications to social work practice and for further researches
