The purpose of this study was to identify pupils with low vision and asses their educationalrnchallenges and opportunities at Sebeta Special School for the Blind, Oromiya Regional State. Arnmixed research approach was employed. A total of 50 individuals (30 pupils with low vision, 15rnteachers, 2 school principals and 3 Special Needs Experts) were participated. Simple random,rnpurposive, and available sampling techniques were used. Functional Vision Assessment Testrnsupplemented by Teacher Nomination, Questionnaire, Semi-structured interview, Observationrnchecklist and Focus Group Discussions were employed to generate reliable and robust data. Therndata were analyzed quantitatively as well as qualitatively through descriptive statistics andrnthematic analysis techniques respectively. The findings indicated that there were a considerablernnumber of pupils with low vision in the school. And they were entangled with diversifiedrneducational challenges. Among others, absence of functional vision assessment, and ignorancernof the school towards their specific needs took the lion share and were the major bottlenecksrnthese pupils face. Presence of well organized resource-room and itinerant teacher werernopportunities identified. Consequently, some practical recommendations were forwarded
