The ol?iectil ern(~rrnthis study I'as to assess the levelrn(~rrnawareness studel1fS with hearingrnimpairment and their sexual behavior in relation to HIVIAIDS. To achieve this goal qualitativernand quantitalive method of analysis were used. Minilik II secondary school was selectedrn•rnbecause there are students with hearing impairment at secondary school level.rnPurposefulrnsampling was the method used to select students, Accordingly, all (48) students with hearingrnimpairment were participated in the study, From the participant of the study, 23(47,92%) arernfemale and 25(52.08%) of them are male. Questionnaire and interview were used as a meansrnof data collection. Questionnaire was prepared for students with hearing impairment.rnInterview was conducted with some selected club representatives, school guidance andrncounselors, students with hearing impairment, and people who are working with individualsrnwith hearing impairment in a VCT centers.rnThe result of the study indicates that, almost all students with hearing impairment havern•rnadequate HIVIAIDS knowledge. Regarding their sexual behavior about 70% of the participantsrnhave a sexual behavior which is healthy that is abstinence. Eventhough, about 30% of thernparticipants of the study had experienced sexual intercourse and of which most of themrninvolved in a risky sexual activity which may expose them to HIV infection.rnAccording to the findings of the study, the main sources of HIVIAIDS knowledge for studentsrn•rnwith hearing impairment are friends, television, printed materials and peer educators. Thernmain strategy used to teach students with hearing impairment are drama and theatre. peerrneducation, panel discussion, television, captionedfilms, and teaching using sign language.rnWith regard to gender difference in the level of awareness about HIVIAIDS, this study foundrnout that there is no significant difference between male and female students with hearingrn•rnimpairment in their level of HIVIAIDS awareness.rnFinally, the result of this study indicates that there is no significant relationship between thernawareness and the sexual behavior of students with hearing impairment
