Teachers who educate deaf students should demonstrate competency in the preparation of thernsubjects they teach, as well as give additional support to their students. The main purpose of thisrnstudy is to assess a teacher's' process of preparing, teaching and learning of deaf students atrnAlpha Special School, Addis Ababa. In order to achieve the objective of the study, 16rnrespondents participated in the study. The result of the study was analyzed qualitatively. Thernfindings of the study indicated a lack of appropriate instructional strategies, lack of trainingrnopportunities, lack of attention to classroom preparation, and the absence of support andrncommunication. All were found to be major problems. The study shows that half of the teachersrnwho participated in this study did not have enough training in sign language, causingrncommunication barriers between the students and teachers. The deaf students’ learning and theirrnrelationship with their teachers was impeded by a lack of communication and preparation. Basedrnon the findings of this study, recommendations were proposed, that promote the development ofrna teacher's’ preparation, sign language skills and student support
