The objective of this study was to identify the extent to which psychological skill training werernbeing implemented in Ethiopian youth sport academy and Athlete Tirunish Dibaba sports trainingrncenter and to point out those challenges that impede the implementation of PST. In this regard arnmixed concurrent research method was employed . All athletics coaches and technical staffs whornhad direct contact with athlitics training were selected as respondentes . The primary sources ofrndata were 18 coaches and 4 technical staffs of the two training centers. Questionnaires,rninterviews and document analyses were used for the purpose of collecting relevant data. Datarnobtained through questionnaires were analyzed using statistical tools like percentage and meanrnusing SPSS version 25.0 for windows. Moreover, data gathered through interview and documentrnanalysis were considered to complement the questionnaires in narrative form .The finding of thisrnstudy revealed that the current status of PST implementation was very poor and not planned andrnimplemented formally in the two training centers . And the major challenges that affected thernimplementation of psychological skill training in Ethiopian youth sport academy and AthleternTirunish Dibaba sport training center were: coachesâ€™ lack of practical knowledge to conduct PSTrn,perceived lack of time by coaches ,lack of practical teaching method in higher educationrninstitutes ,lack of awareness from athletes coaches and administrators, lack of trained sportrnpsychologist to plan and organize the program. Accordingly the study suggests: awarenessrncreation programs for athletes, coaches and technical staffs; continuous training for coaches;rnprovision of special emphasis in higher education institutes; and preparation of PST trainingrnmanuals as a long term solution.
