The purpose of this investigation is to assess talent identification and players success rate ofrnbasketball projects under Addis Ababa city. Cross-sectional study design was best suited to carryrnout the study and qualitative and quantitative research method was also employed. The totalrnpopulations of this study were 200 players and 10 project coaches from different basketballrnprojects of Addis Ababa. Among the total population, 100(50%) project participants werernselected using simple random sampling method and 10(100%) of coaches were selected usingrnpurposive sampling method by considering their coaching experience. Therefore to realize thernobjective of the study primary data were gathered from basketball project coaches as well asrnplayers. In addition to this document analysis was employed to observe personal profile ofrnplayers. Questionnaire of talent identification developed by Rutten et al (2005) and Wegnear etrnal (2011), as well as structured interview was the main information gathering tools in the coursernof the study. Statistical analysis was carried out by using (SPSS) statistical package of socialrnscience version 20. Therefore quantitatively collected Data were analyzed through descriptivernstatistics, mean, standard deviation and data gathered through structured interview werernanalyzed by organizing similar verbatim in to common themes. Independent sample t-test wasrncarried out to determine the mean score difference between the project coaches and playersrnregarding to goal of talent identification, target of talent identification, the availability ofrnsufficient personnel to carry out talent identification, cooperative work, financial resources andrninfrastructure and support from family and government.
