The purpose of this study was to identify EFL learning strategy use of male andrnfemale students. The focus was to attain the type and range of strategy they use andrnfrequency level thereby to assess the differences/similarities in using the EFLrnlearning strategies by male and female students.rnTo this end, one hundred (44 male and 56 female) students were selected usingrnstratified sampling technique. To measure students’ Language learning strategy,rnOxford’s Strategy Inventory Language Learning (SILL) was employed withrnmodification. The modified self report questionnaire with 40-items prepared andrnadministered to all selected students. In addition, interview was conducted with tenrnpercent of the target population.rnData obtained through the questionnaire were analyzed using Statistical Package forrnSocial Sciences (SPSS) version-13. The descriptive statistics such as mean values,rnstandard deviations, percentages and Independent T-test were considered inrndiscussion. During discussion, data obtained through the self report questionnairernwere cross checked using the data obtained through interviews.rnResults of the study show that females use more often the three main languagernlearning strategies among the six language learning strategy than their malerncounterpart. An Independent sample T test shows that there was no significantrndifference between male and female in using the six main language learningrnstrategies.
