The main objective of this study was to find outrn) whether or not the Global Method is more effective than thernSynthetic Hethod in the teaching of handwriting.rnTo achieve this, an experiment , for which hundredrnsubjects were s elected, was conducted for six weeks. Outrnof the hundred subjects , ninety- five children in four groupsrnattended the experiment. Two of the groups formed thernControl groups and the other two , the Study groups.rnA pretest was given to both the Control and Studyrngroups to determine if they had a significant differencernin writing performance. Statistical computations, however,rnshowed that there was no s i gnificant differencernbetween the two groups in writing cursively.rnAfter six weeks, a post-test was administered to bothrnthe Control and Study groups. A t - t est at 0.5 level ofrnconfidence was conducted to det ermine the significancerndifference between the means of the two groups and thernresults showed that the Study groups performed betterrnthan the Control groups. A conclusion was drawn that thernGlobal Method is more effective than the SyntheticrnMethod in the teaching of handwr iting .rnOn the basis of the findings, it is recommended thatrnchildren in the elementary schools be taught handwritingrnthrough the Global Method and tha t speed of writing bernconsidered and increased without affecting handwritingrnl egib ility adver sely affected.
