The purpose of this study is to investigate the usernof satire by nine poets who published their works duringrnthe poat-revolution era. Although some of the poems daternback to t he pre-revolution era, the purpose of the studyrnis not to show their re levance to the period. In specificrnte r ms the research paper aims at showing with what featuresrnof satire the themes of the selected poems are concernedrnwith as well as the type of tones they employ.rnA general look at their con~ents vividly reveals tornus that they focus on social problems, particularly onrnpretentiousness , abuses of technological discoveries andrncorruption . ~ost of the poets capita lize on the identityrncrisis and the pretentious behaviour of the youth , especiallyrnof the overseas educated. Some of the poets even go beyondrnthe issues of their own country and at tempt to touch onrninternational issues.rnFurther scrutiny shows us the frequent utilization ofrnirony. Moreover the tones that are employed in most of thernsatirical pieces are serious and only some of them humorous
