This study was aimed to describe and analyze teachers' involvement in educationalrnresearch in Eastern Gojjam Secondary Schools and to investigate factors that affect theirrninvolvement in educational research. To achieve these purposes, a descriptive surveyrnresearch method was employed. The participants were 334 teachers from 7 secondaryrnschools, 20 directors, woreda and zone educational officers. The data were analyzed usingrnpercentages, means, X2-test, t-test and/or one-way AN OVA. The data secured throughrninterview were analyzed qualitatively. The study found out that most of the teachers havernattended research courses at universities/colleges. The trend of training teachers inrnseminars, workshops, or in-service training programs in educational research was very lowrnand the involvement teachers in educational research were also low. There were nornconvenient channels of communicating research outputs. The majority of teachers hadrnmedium personal educational research competency and favorable attitude towardrneducational research. Teachers were not rendered appropriate support and recognition.rnThere were no functional research coordinating unit/structure in the zone, there were lackrnof budget allocation, relevant educational literatures in the libraries, equipments and otherrnfacilities which help doing educational research. It is suggested that functional researchrncoordinating unit should be organized from schools to regional level that train teachers andrndevelop experience-sharing habits among. s c.h ools, and create a means that schools get at )rnleast relevant educational literatures, statto!!eryeqp!lntssmsornresearch faciIities.
