The purpose of this study is to assess institutional factors affectingrnimplementation of IT training program in govemment middle level TVETrninstitutes in Addis Ababa. To carry out the study three govemment middlernlevel TVET institutes were selected. A descriptive survey research method wasrnemployed in the study. Besides, purposive, stratified, and simple randomrnsampling techniques were employed to select the study area and the researchrnparticipants. Trainers, trainees, principals, vocational counselors andrnsupervisors from the selected institutes were the participants of the study.rnQuestionnaire, interview and observational check list were used as datarncollecting instruments. The obtained data were analyzed using percentages,rnmean values, and rank order correlation coefficient. The results of the studyrnindicated that lack of competency of trainers, the inefficiency of management,rninadequacy of educational materials and facilities, and poor coordination inrnfacilitating apprenticeship were the major factors that affected thernimplementation of information technology. Based on the findings of the study,rnthe mechanism of providing in-service training for trainers and principals, thernway of utilizing educational materials and facilities, and mechanisms ofrnfacilitating apprenticeship are recommended.
