The purpose of this study is to assess the relati onship between parental di sc iplinaryrnteclmiques and children social behav ior operationali zed as aggression and social withdrawalrnbehav ior among primary school students of low income parents and parents of the generalrncomparable group. Stratifi ed random sampling was employed to select subj ects of therncomparable group from Jerusalem public primary school. Whereas, in the target group allrngrade seven and eight students were included in the study since their number is small.rnTotally, 205 participants, 101 students from the target group and 104 from the comparablerngroup were involved in the study. Various statistical teclmiques such as, t- test, correlationrncoefficient, and stepwise multiple regression were used to analyze the data collected throughrnquestionnaire. T rest result displayed that parents' of the two groups employed differentrndi sc iplinary teclmiques to handle the misbehavior of their children. Thus, low income parentsrnwere found to use more power-assertive and love-withdrawal di sciple, whereas parents of therncomparable group employed reason-based disciple method. Furthermore, the target grouprnchildren were more li kely to show aggressive behavior in the school setting than therncomparable group children. Parental di sciplinary techniques especially power-assertionrnmethod shows a significant positive correlation with aggression in the target group. Powerassertiverndi scipline method was also found to be a strong predi ctor of aggression andrnexplained the greater proportion of the variance of it.rnThe result suggest that intervention strategies geared towards avoiding or at least reducingrnthe incidence of antisocial behavior and/or violence would probably be more likely fruitful ifrndue attention is given to teaching these group of parents a more positi ve and less punitiverntechnique of handling children's mi sbehav ior.
