The purpose of this study is to investigate the nature and types ofrnrelationships among psychological sense of community, civic engagementrnand social well-being among urban resident of Adama town. It alsornfocused on the advantages and disadvantages of the existence of the threernvariables. Moreover, it was planned to identify major threats torn• psychological sense of community, civic engagement and social well-beingrnwith their respective solutions.rnThe data were collected through questionnaires, interviews and focusrngroup discussion. 'fuJo hundred and eighty eight residents participated inrnthe study. Various statistical techniques, both qualitative and quantitativernsuch as percentage, one-way ANOVA, correlation and t-test were used tornanalyze the data. The outcome of the data analysis revealed that ·rnpsychological sense of community is moderate among residents: socialrnwell-being is about an average and civic engagement is low. It is alsornidentified that psychological sense of community is not significantlyrncorrelated with civic engagement and social well-being. However, there isrna positive correlation between civic engagement and social well-being.rnFurthermore, the data indicated that there are many threats tornpsychological sense of community, civic engagement and social well-beingrnthat should be addressed by concerned bodies.
