The Impact Of The Nigerian Agricultural And Cooperative Bank (nacb) Limited On The Socio-economic Growth Of Nigeria A Case Study Of Kaduna State

The project examined the impact of Nigerian Agricultural and Cooperative Bank(NACB) Limited, on the socio-economic growth of Nigeria with particular reference to KadunaState vis-a-vis the volume of loans disbursed to farmers as individuals, corporate bodies and togovernment agencies which had direct influence on agricultural development.The study was undertaken on Kaduna State in order to determine the actual impact of theNACB on the socio-economic life of its citizens with reference to their disposable income,improved standard of living and general impact on the development of industrial agriculturalsector.For this study or project, I relied solely on primary and secondary sources of data, and theanalysis was based on some simple statistical techniques such as measures of dispersion like theMean, Mode, Median and Standard Deviation. From the research, it was discovered that mostfarmers still depend on external financing - such as NACB and other sources.The study on Kaduna State has demonstrated that farmers especially small-scale farmersneed credit in order to boost their productivity. Also most credit to farmers are not alwaystimely, and therefore lending becomes a problem when its obtained after the farming season.It was also discovered that, for a credit program to be effective and successful in makinga substantial contribution in increasing productivity, conditions must exist for the small-scalefarmer to be able to improve their land; these conditions include the use of modern tools andmachines, introduce better methods of land cultivation and general agriculture.However, it can be concluded by stating that credit financing through institutionalsources like NACB has helped in many ways in ameliorating the problems of farmers in KadunaState, more especially the small-scale farmers
