A conservation - restoration study has been conducted on the historic premises of TeferirnMekonnen school, founded in 1925, one of the historic heritages that is registered as arnheritage site in Addis Ababa. This research was aim at to identify and document therncauses and factors of deterioration that are observed on the heritage building and itsrnpremise and come out with a conservation- restoration proposal that will enable tornpreserve the authenticity and integrity of the heritage site.rnThis thesis used primary and secondary data collection methodologies, and appliedrnarchitectural and qualitative data analysis methods to develop a conservation proposalrnand recommendation solutions.rnThis paper identified ad document the history and heritage values of the study heritagernsite and found out that school historic premises has not only historic value but alsornarchitectural aesthetic, social, cultural, and places values that needs preservation andrnprotectionrnIn this thesis the architectural design and techniques of construction of the historicrnbuilding and its setting are described and analyzed. The causes and factors of the historicrnpremises identified and analyzed. The thesis argued that due to lack of regularrnmaintenance and conservation as well as improper past restoration and unplannedrnexpansion the heritage building has been deteriorating and the historic landscape isrndisturbed. It also recommends measures that should be taken to protect the heritage fromrnfurther damage and future management strategies
