Sebeta town is one of the rapidly expanding and selected as factories center now a daysrnin Ethiopia. Unfortunately, street flooding and over topping drainage system problemsrnare occurring at the rainy season in a town. The runoff generation in the study area isrnincreasing due to a combination of larger rainfall intensity and more impervious areas.rnAs a consequence several properties have been affected by flooding during heavy rainfallrnevents. The objective of the study is to assess urbanization impact on stormwaterrndrainage performance of sebeta town. To achieve the objectives SWMM model used asrnmethod and the total average flow 0.468 m3/s and total volume to outfalls 15.840*103 m3rnwere occurred from all 10 sub catchments. Model calibration and validation were done.rnThe performance of SWMM model was carried out using coefficient of determinationrn(R2), the nash-sutcliffe coefficient (RNS) and relative error (RE) the value obtained arern0.95, 0.91 and 12.95% respectively. In order to manage the stormwater LID controlrnmethod is applied, after LID control provided the discharge values were lesser than thatrnbefore LID provided. Finally, after the critical locations of overflow are identified,rnfeasibility of suggested LID and their effectiveness in urban flood management arernconsidered. The results of the study shows the urbanization have impact on drainagernsystem. Generally it can be concluded that the drainage system of the study area found tornbe inadequate due to Inadequate size of the drainage system, improper construction ofrndrainage canal and improper functioning of drainage network due to poor managementrnthis leads resulting damages to road surfacing material and flooding problems in the area.rnFor proper disposal of storm water the existing drainage system must be properlyrnmanaged and clean.
