The main objective of the study was to investigate the role of models on students’rnconceptual understanding of geometry in Addis Zemen higher education preparatoryrnsecondary school. Specifically, the study examined students’ understanding on theirrnability to identify the effect and contribution of models on the students’ geometricrnconcept understanding, providing different type of instructional material and teachingrnmethods to the students in order to understand geometric concepts simply. The studyrnemployed quasi-experimental design. The data were collected from 92 students andrngrouped in to two one treated group the other the control group. The data were collectedrnusing test in the actual classroom situation, and analyzed using a t-test and ANOVA testrnwere used for data analysis. Then the result indicated that the use of models in teachingrngeometry has significance in geometry classes. Hence, the study implied thatrnteachers/curriculum expert’s taught to aware of the students, concept understanding torndiagnose and involve models approach in the teaching and learning process of geometry.rnFinally, the study suggested that the concepts of geometry are abstract in nature and itrnrequires more visualization tools to the students’ geometrical concept understanding andrnfor spatial thinking
