Job Position: Communication Specialist, NOC
Job Location: Abuja, Nigeria
Job Responsibilities:
As a Communication Specialist at UNICEF, your role will include:
- Developing, managing, coordinating, and implementing an advocacy and communication strategy to promote awareness, understanding, and support for children's and women's rights.
- Creating effective communication strategies that highlight the issues UNICEF addresses and influence policy, decision-makers, donors, partners, and the public.
- Ensuring UNICEF's mission, values, and objectives are effectively communicated to relevant stakeholders.
- Fostering positive relations with the media to accurately represent UNICEF's work and impact.
- Managing communication risks and opportunities, providing timely and accurate information dissemination during crises or emergencies.
- Preparing reports and updates on program activities, achievements, and impact.
- Collaborating with the UN Country Team and other communication counterparts to enhance communication efforts.
- Supporting global priorities, campaigns, and resource mobilization activities.
- Managing human and financial resources effectively.
Job Requirements:
To qualify as an advocate for every child, you should have:
- Advanced University Degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or related fields. A first university degree with additional years of relevant professional experience may be accepted.
- Five years of progressively responsible work experience in communication, print, broadcast, or new media.
- Fieldwork experience and familiarity with emergency situations are assets.
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset.
