Manchester Global Futures Scholarships 2027: £36,000

University of Manchester Global Futures Scholarships 2027 in the UK: Up to £36,000 for International Students

2026 International Student Financial Guide

Securing a Fully Funded Scholarship is only the first step. Many Nigerian students are now utilizing No-Cosigner Student Loans through providers like MPOWER Financing and Prodigy Finance to cover living expenses in the USA, Canada, and the UK.

Proof of Funds & GRE Waivers

If you are applying to Ivy League or Russell Group Universities, look for programs offering Graduate Assistantships. Many top-tier universities are currently granting GRE and GMAT Waivers for African applicants with strong professional backgrounds or high GPAs from recognized institutions.

WES Evaluation and English Tests

For Canada and the US, a WES Course-by-Course Evaluation is often mandatory. Additionally, if your degree was taught in English, you may qualify for an IELTS/TOEFL Waiver, saving you significant costs during the Graduate Admissions process.

The University of Manchester is offering more than 350 Global Futures Scholarships to international students starting their studies in September 2027. With a total value of more than £6 million, these merit-based awards are open to students applying for undergraduate and master's degrees at one of the UK's largest and most respected universities.

This is a partial funding award: it is a discount on international tuition fees, not a fully funded scholarship. It does not cover living costs, accommodation or travel, so successful applicants still need to fund the rest of their studies.

Who Can Apply?

The Global Futures Scholarships are merit-based awards for international fee-paying students. Eligibility is based on domicile (where you normally live), not just nationality, and the eligible countries, grade requirements and deadlines vary by region. Applicants must be:

- Classified as international (overseas) for tuition fee purposes

- Domiciled in one of the eligible countries for their region

- Applying for direct first-year entry in 2027 (undergraduate) or a full-time, on-campus master's course starting in September 2027

- Holding strong academic results — the exact grade thresholds (for example A-levels, IB Diploma or equivalent qualifications) are set out in the University's eligibility and application criteria document for each region

For African applicants, the undergraduate awards are open to students domiciled in Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe. The master's awards for Africa are open to applicants domiciled in Botswana, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Please note: the undergraduate scholarship is not available for Medicine (MBChB), Dentistry (BDS), Architecture or courses with an integrated foundation year. The award is for courses starting in September 2027 and cannot be deferred.

Deadlines for African Applicants

Undergraduate applicants from Africa should note these key dates:

- Early selection round: 25 February 2027 (for students who took their examinations in 2026, for example South African NSC or IEB or the November series A Levels)

- Main round: 8 April 2027 (all other undergraduate applicants)

- Firm UCAS choice: Select the University of Manchester as your Firm UCAS choice by 15 May 2027

Master's applicants from Africa must hold an unconditional offer for a full-time, on-campus master's course starting in September 2027 and submit the online scholarship application form by 20 April 2027.

Deadlines, grade thresholds and Firm-choice dates vary by region — for example, other regions have their own closing dates in March and April 2027 — so always confirm the dates for your own country on the University's country-specific scholarships page.

How to Apply

1. Apply for an eligible undergraduate course through UCAS, or for an eligible master's course through the University's application system.

2. Receive an offer from the University of Manchester. The scholarship application form is only made available once you have applied for an eligible course and received an offer (for master's applicants, a conditional or unconditional offer).

3. Complete the dedicated online scholarship application form by the deadline for your region. A link to the form is emailed to relevant offer holders.

4. Select the University of Manchester as your Firm UCAS choice by the date for your region (15 May 2027 for African undergraduates).

5. Meet all academic and non-academic conditions of your course offer, including English language requirements, by the date stated in your region's criteria.

There is no separate scholarship application until you hold an offer, so the first step is to submit a strong course application as early as possible.
