Mad Genius Scholarship: A Chance For Creative Minds To Shine

Not every scholarship is about grades or test scores. Some are made for people who think differently — people who mix ideas, build new things, and express themselves in their own way.

2026 International Student Financial Guide

Securing a Fully Funded Scholarship is only the first step. Many Nigerian students are now utilizing No-Cosigner Student Loans through providers like MPOWER Financing and Prodigy Finance to cover living expenses in the USA, Canada, and the UK.

Proof of Funds & GRE Waivers

If you are applying to Ivy League or Russell Group Universities, look for programs offering Graduate Assistantships. Many top-tier universities are currently granting GRE and GMAT Waivers for African applicants with strong professional backgrounds or high GPAs from recognized institutions.

WES Evaluation and English Tests

For Canada and the US, a WES Course-by-Course Evaluation is often mandatory. Additionally, if your degree was taught in English, you may qualify for an IELTS/TOEFL Waiver, saving you significant costs during the Graduate Admissions process.

The Mad Genius Scholarship is one of those.

This $8,000 fund, created by FoodStory Brands, celebrates creativity in all forms. Eight students will each receive $1,000 for showing imagination and originality in their work.

Who Can Apply

It’s open to everyone — high school, college, grad school, or trade school students. There’s no GPA requirement or limit on your field of study. You just need to be a student with a creative spark.

What You Need to Do

To apply, you’ll create a “mashup” project — something that combines ideas, materials, or styles in a new way. It could be art, fashion, design, writing, food, or anything else that shows how your mind works.

Then, write a short essay (about 500 words or less) explaining your idea. Talk about what inspired it, how you made it, and why it represents your creative side.

You can also include a photo if it helps tell your story.

What They’re Looking For

The judges want originality. They want to see students who take risks and mix things in unexpected ways. If your work shows curiosity, passion, and a fresh point of view, you’ll stand out.

What to Know Before You Apply

A few key things:

  • Your submission must be your own work.

  • You agree that the organization may share your project or name if you win.

  • AI-generated content isn’t allowed.

  • Winners will have to confirm they’re enrolled in school.

The application deadline is November 1, 2025, and winners will be announced on December 1, 2025.

Why This Scholarship Matters

Creative students often struggle to find support. The Mad Genius Scholarship reminds us that thinking differently has value — that imagination matters just as much as grades.

If you’ve ever built something unusual, designed something bold, or blended ideas that don’t normally go together, this scholarship is for you.

It’s not about being perfect. It’s about being original.
